(Delivered to the graduating students, parents and students during HCSI 11th Graduation Ceremony, SM Conference Hall, Cebu City, Philippines, April 1, 2009)
As you embark a new era of your life, I would like to remind you that true success can be found in the area of your gifting. As Dr. Myles Munroe said, your gift is your area of domain. Your gift therefore is the key to your leadership, your excellence and your authority.
Your greatness is found in your gift. Proverbs says, “A man’s gift will make room for him in the world.” Every human being comes to this earth with a gift from God. Your gift (work) is what you were born to do; your job is what you are paid to do. Most people never find what they were born to do so they spend the rest of their lives living what they were paid to do and keep on struggling.
One of the most important things that you must discover in your life is your gift or talent. As you are able to discover your gift, you are to develop or harness it through education, training and experience. The bible says, “A man who turns his gift shall prosper.” The word turn is to develop or to refine, to produce or to exercise your gift. Your education therefore must be geared towards developing your God given gift. If you are graduating from High School, choose a course that can develop or harness your gift, otherwise you will end up pursuing a course or career which you are not born to do.
You are not an accident! Before you were conceived in your mother’s womb, God has already a purpose for your existence. Your purpose existed before you were conceived. You came to earth because there was something God desires that made you necessary. You did not come to earth to find your purpose, you came to earth because of a purpose and that purpose can be fulfilled through your gifting.
The gifting and calling (or purpose) of God in your life cannot be separated, they go together. Your plans or dreams therefore must be geared towards fulfilling your purpose or calling in your life. Otherwise, your purpose will frustrate all your plans if your plans deviate from your purpose in life.
The way to discovering your gift and purpose is to go back to the maker of your life, God. Knowing God and establishing a personal relationship with Him through a surrendered life is the one which will unlock all the keys to achieving all your purposes in life.
I wonder how many of you listening to me right now know your gifting and purpose of your life. If you do not yet know them, I ask you to go to your maker, God. I ask that everyone stand as an act of reverence to Him. If you want to know God and establish a personal relationship with Him, I ask that you raise up your hand to the Lord as an act of surrender and repeat this prayer and petition after me. . . . .
